5. Mardin Bienali Küratörü Adwait Singh! Mardin Sinema Derneği tarafından 20 Mayıs – 20 Haziran 2022 tarihleri arasında gerçekleştirilecek olan 5. Mardin Bienali küratörlüğünü, Yeni Delhi merkezli bağımsız küratör, teorisyen, editör ve yazar Adwait Singh üstlenecek. 1992 doğumlu Adwait Singh master çalışmasını Goldsmiths’te tamamladıktan hemen sonra kar amacı gütmeyen çeşitli organizasyonlar, genç sanatçılarla workshoplar ve sanat projeleri gerçekleştirdi. Singh, zamanını bağımsız sergiler ve alternatif sanat pratiklerini teorize ve dokümante etmeye adamaktadır.

Awards and Achievements:

  • Have been awarded the CLICK Residency Sofia by the Art Affairs and Documents Foundation and the Goethe-Institute Bulgaria for July-August 2019. 
  • Have been awarded a curatorial grant by Inlaks India Foundation to realize a project at Mumbai Art Room in June- August 2019. 
  • Have been offered a residency as a part of the Helsinki International Curatorial Program (HICP) in partnership with Frame Contemporary Art Finland for June 2018.
  • Have been awarded an International Research Programme (Visual Arts) grant by The Danish Arts Foundation in 2017. 
  • Was invited for a residency at FRANK, Oslo in Spring 2017. 
  • Was selected for a curatorial fellowship by the Kochi Biennale Foundation for the year 2016-17. 
  • Was featured in the top international young curators list, in Vogue Art Report 2016 (India). 
  • Was selected for a research residency in Cuba by the School of Arts, University of Kent for the year 2014 (Spring).

Projects:

  • June – August 2019: Mutarerium – a project with emerging artists Mustafa Khanbhai, Priyanka D’Souza and Waylon D’Souza at Mumbai Art Room that examines other-than-human evolutionary timelines taking the sixth extinction as its point of reference.
  • April 2018 : Caressing History – a group show investigating the notion of a body-based historiography at Shrine Empire Gallery, New Delhi. Participating artists include: Ariana Page Russell (USA), BR Shailesh (India), Chitra Ganesh (USA), Ester Fleckner (Denmark, Germany), E?va Magyaro?si (Hungary), Iwona Demko (Poland), Jacolby Satterwhite (USA), Khushbu Patel (India), Malgorzata Dawidek (Poland, UK), Mariam Ghani (USA), Mithu Sen (India), Neerja Kothari (India), Smitha Cariappa (India), Sunil Gupta (UK, India), Vidha Saumya (India). 
  • February – March 2018 : ‘Rendering Multitudes: C. Bhagyanath & Piyali Ghosh’, Gallery Latitude 28, new Delhi. 
  • July, October – November 2017 : ‘Dissensus’ – a travelling group exhibition presented by Latitude 28 at Bikaner House, New Delhi and Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi, Chandigarh with artists Fay Ku, Waseem Ahmed, Khadim Ali, Veer Munshi, Priyanka D’Souza, Neda Tavallaee, Hit Man Gurung, and Gazi Nafis Ahmed. 
  • March 2017 : ‘Synapse’ – an interim group show at the culmination of my curatorial residency at Le cha?teau de La Napoule, France which materialised sites/shrines where a connection to the largest living assemblage, Gaia could be presenced. 
  • February – March 2017 : ‘G/rove’ – an international group show with practitioners such as The Center for Genomic Gastronomy, Tanya Busse, Elin Vister, Rithika Merchant, Krishnaraj Chonat among others that examine the mythopoetic imperative of non-anthropocentric modalities of planet sharing at Gallery Latitude 28, New Delhi. 
  • September – October 2016 : Forlorn Foe: Khadim Ali (co-curated with Anushka Rajendran), Gallery Latitude 28, New Delhi. 
  • October 2016 : Reenactment as a mode of ‘reading’ – a performance art workshop with students from Banaras Hindu University and Shiv Nadar University, Varanasi. 
  • July 2016 : The Falling Leaf: On Entropic Currents (a collaborative proposition by the students from College of Art, New Delhi) Gallery Latitude 28, New Delhi. 
  • December 2015 – March 2017 : The Students’ Biennale 2016, Kochi.
